Clemente H. Saucedo of San Marcos, Texas, passed away peacefully to be with our heavenly Father in the early morning hours of Tuesday, September 22, 2020, at the age of 96.
Born in San Marcos, Texas in 1924, Clemente Saucedo was the oldest of 12 children born to his parents Aureliano and Santos Saucedo, who preceded him in death. A plumber by trade, he worked several different jobs before marrying the love of his life, Agripina Arredondo in 1955. He then went to work for his father-in-law, Juan Arredondo in the family business where he was the manager and operator of the Acapulco service station and tavern – a wellknown travelers’ stop on the busy Interstate 35. Possessed of a strong work ethic, Clemente often held two or three jobs at a time and began his 25-year career as a painter at Wide-Lite where he retired in 1990.
Clemente was a deeply respected member of the community and a friend to many. He had a reputation of a well-dressed gentleman and a generous friend and neighbor, always making himself available to help others with home projects, plumbing repairs, and requests for rides and errands. It was rare for him to say no to requests from others. An avid and skilled hunter, Clemente enjoyed hunting whitetail deer in the Texas Hill Country. For years, he and his friends would enter the San Marcos LULAC Cinco de Mayo menudo cook-off. He al ways treasured the many family gatherings he spent with his children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and brothers and sisters. A man of deep faith, Mr. Saucedo was also a lifelong member of Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church in San Marcos.
