City welcomes four leaders into its Women's Hall of Fame

Mary Peterson Earls, Nancy Hanks Ellis, Bobbie Garza-Hernandez and Mittie Miller were recently inducted into the Hall of Fame for providing assistance to those in need and demonstrating leadership qualities.

KZSM–'Musica con Ganas' is now on Sunday evenings
Your 'True Community Radio' station continues to celebrate the diversity and creativity of our city and our region with a new show in Spanish. “Musica con Ganas,” hosted by KZSM veteran “El Tío,” airs Sundays 8-9 p.m., immediately after the bilingual broadcast “Raices.” The show addresses a need for more Spanish-language programming here in our community where 40% of the population identifies as Hispanic.

State sending aid to Hawaii

Texas School Safety Center receives grant to help public schools implement behavioral threat assessment programs
The Texas School Safety Center at Texas State University has been awarded a grant from the Department of Justice’s STOP School Violence Prevention Program in support of school behavioral threat assessment programs to provide a proactive, evidence-based approach for identifying individuals who may pose a threat and for providing interventions before a violent incident occurs.

Election early voting starts on Monday
Early voting begins on Monday, Oct. 23 and runs through Friday, Nov. 3 in Hays County, in anticipation of the Nov. 7 election, according to Hays County Elections Administrator Jennifer Doinoff.
