Climate change deserves greater state attention
Dear Editor: The Texas Tribune published an article today, June 2, 2023, called, 'Climate proposals withered at the Texas Capitol this year.' This article summarizes the various ways pro-environmental policies failed to pass at the Texas legislature in the last few months. Texas bill: Human smugglers or Good Samaritan
Four years ago on a cold winter night, Teresa Todd was driving on a highway in West Texas when she saw three young migrants from Central America limping along the side of the road. Shouldn’t there be discussions taking place on how the fraudulent activities occurred or a special audit being conducted on the Tax Assessor’s Collectors Office? If audits are done on county departments, why was the activity not caught during an annual audit? I would expect an auditor to recommend safeguards to avoid such activity.

State’s historical association future is under threat?
When Walter Buenger wants to explain to someone what history is, he starts with a simple question: when was that fancy façade on the Alamo–that funny gable that looks like the top of an ornate chest of drawers–constructed?

Personal salute to Flag Day
It’s long past time for me to put a flagpole in the center of my front yard — one that holds a large American flag that dances proudly in the summer breeze.
