Will this be your best spring ever?
Will this be your best spring ever?
A tiny portion of my “day job” at a farmand-home cooperative involves writing radio commercials and onhold phone messages. 03/20/2022 05:00 AM

You call a popular, busy restaurant to make a reservation. They tell you they only take reservations from 5 to 6 p.m. You make a note to call back. When you do, the line is busy and you can’t get through. 03/13/2022 05:00 AM

Donald Trump could decide who gets the GOP nomination for attorney general of Texas and, in the process, could be a factor in runoffs farther down that party’s ballot in May. 03/06/2022 05:00 AM
Don’t you just love laundry day?
Don’t you just love laundry day?
I despise airing my dirty laundry in public, but I’ll make an exception for kvetching about my clean laundry. 03/06/2022 05:00 AM

Analysis: Putin’s war imperils global security arrangements
WARSAW, Poland (AP) — It was the tale of two Vladimirs — one noble, grim and stubbornly open to peace; the other angry, threatening and bellicose — on a day that seemed to presage the demise of the security architecture, consensus and arrangements that have kept Europe and the world, for the most part, stable and secure for three-quarters of a century. 02/27/2022 05:00 AM

How to talk to your teens and pre-teens about healthy relationships
The following article is part three of a four-week series focusing on raising awareness about dating violence. February is Dating Violence Awareness month, and we hope to educate our community on this very important issue. One-inthree young people will experience dating violence in their lifetime. Locally, the Hays-Caldwell Women’s Center has been serving victims of domestic and dating violence, sexual assault, and child abuse since 1978. Last year, HCWC served 2,055 victims of abuse (face-to-face) primarily from Hays and Caldwell Counties. 02/20/2022 05:00 AM

San Marcos is not San Marcos without San Marcos Springs and the San Marcos River. San Marcos is defined by the river that runs through it. We would not be here if not for the springs and river, an oasis on the Camino Real, itself an old Native American trail, connecting north and south Texas. Texans settled here because of the springs where Ed Burleson borrowed the flows to grind grain and cut lumber for a growing town. More recently, the springs and river provide a water resource and a quality of life that other towns in the area don’t have. 02/20/2022 05:00 AM

Love, San Marcos, and Brady
Love, San Marcos, and Brady
Valentine’s Day is fast approaching. As people are rushing to grab the perfect stuffed bear or chocolate treat for their sweetheart, I can’t help but stop and think that San Marcos has filled my life with so much love. As a red cheeked, big dreamer teenager, San Marcos became home at the age of 16 when I had the amazing opportunity to attend boarding school at San Marcos Academy. 02/13/2022 05:00 AM
