Mexican sunflower: Colorful pollinator champions
Flaming orange flowers always catch my eye and the old-fashioned Mexican sunflower is still one of the best. They are probably catching your eye as well wherever you drive or commute in Central Texas. There may be a revival happening with this plant that I have failed to notice.

It achieves this by looking at what exists and then considering the question of, “What if…?” This year, the concept of what is normal has been turned on its head, forcing all of us — the arts included — to meet these challenges in new and interesting ways.

Old Things, New Meanings: Art returns to Price Center with two new shows
Visual Art displays are back at the Price Center via two new gallery shows opening this month at the downtown community center. “Old Things, New Meanings,” a five-person Pop-Up Show, debuted in the newly renovated Garden Room this past Saturday, and “A light at the End of the Tunnel,” a new online show, debuts on the Center’s website Thurs., Oct. 15. Both shows feature the work of local artists and most of the art is available for purchase.

Some say an outdoor kitchen isn’t complete without a pizza oven. A delicious pie straight out of a blazing hot oven can be delectable when dining al fresco, but pizza also can be made right on the grill.

Breast cancer rehabilitation from initial diagnosis through survivorship
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and is an excellent time to talk about living with breast cancer. Breast cancer diagnosis and treatment can affect all aspects of one's being and life. Varying degrees of physical, emotional, and cognitive effects can impact one's economic status, personal interactions, and general ability to care for oneself. So how can one maximize quality of life and well-being from initial diagnosis through survivorship?
