Rotary awards scholarships to SMHS seniors
The Rotary Club of San Marcos awarded $35,000 in scholarships, ranging from $1,500 to $2,000, to 17 San Marcos High School seniors on April 24. Students at Travis Elementary School raised $850 for a scholarship for a SMHS senior who had earlier attended Travis, with Rotary matching their gift. This event was a part of a nationwide Tanger Outlets program to make a difference, one tree at a time. As a step in helping purify the atmosphere’s air and create fresh oxygen sources, every U.S. Tanger center planted a tree, and all team members were encouraged to participate in environmentally focused efforts and volunteerism in their communities to celebrate Earth Day.
