Bluebonnet Lions Club cleans Ramon Lucio Park

Bluebonnet Lions collected five heavy bags of trash and have been keeping its adopted park litter-free for over five years. Bluebonnet Lions Club describes keeping the park as a challenge with “so much trash blowing from Interstate and bordering Cheatham St and CM Allen Parkway.” Bluebonnet Lions’ adopted park cleanup is part of the environment pillar for Lions Clubs International. Bobcat Pride Scholarship Foundation will hold its 10th birthday reboot celebration on Saturday, April 9, from 2 – 6 p.m. at Wake the Dead Coffee House. The event will feature live music by River Mountain Green and a short program at 4 p.m. At the program, BPSF will share highlights from the past fiscal year and upcoming goals for the foundation. SMARTS celebrates 50th anniversary
The San Marcos Area Retired Teachers and Staff (SMARTS) met to celebrate its 50th anniversary at the San Marcos Recreation Hall, March 8. Since the group began and was chartered in the fall of 1971, the theme was the 70s, with tie dye and psychedelic colors and clothes. About 40 people were in attendance with several former presidents and officers, new members, visitors, plus special guests: Gene Stokes, district 13 president of Texas Retired Teacher Association, Dr. Michael Cardona, superintendent of San Marcos Consolidated School District and Dr. Eric Wright, superintendent of Hays Consolidated School District. 04/03/2022 05:00 AM
