To kick off Texas Performing Arts’ 40th Season, TPA welcomes Ballet Hispánico, the acclaimed Latinx dance company, back to Austin for their first appearance since 2002. San Marcos’ own Indigenous Cultures Institute (ICI) has created “Napakō: Our Journey,” a multi-faceted display of photographs, powwow regalia, ceremonial jewelry, videos and original art to share the story of the Indigenous community in San Marcos. A companion show, “Exploring Our Roots” offers 30 original works of art focusing on personal and collective ancestry. October is Domestic Violence Awareness month, and we hope to educate our community on this very important issue. 1 in 3 women will experience domestic violence in their lifetime. Locally, the Hays-Caldwell Women’s Center has been serving victims of domestic and dating violence, sexual assault, and child abuse since 1978. Last year, HCWC served 2,055 victims of abuse (faceto-face) primarily from Hays and Caldwell Counties. 866 of those were victims of domestic violence. 10/10/2021 05:00 AM
