The Journey Continues: Labor Day
This week starts with a Monday holiday — Labor Day. I am moved by all the hard work ongoing in San Marcos. As I watch new construction of homes and apartments, see critical road work on Interstate 35 and enjoy the fruits of laborers in restaurants, I see that some things never change… It is hard work and getting tired that keeps America's economy strong.

Granola bars often fit the bill as nutritious options in portable packages. While store-bought granola bars are convenient, they tend to be made with nuts or oats, which are not ideal for those with food allergies or intolerances.

Sherrell Lynn Hazlewood
Sherrell Lynn Hazlewood died August 26, 2021, in San Marcos, Texas. Born on September 16, 1932, in Dothan, Texas to Ida Jane Donaway Hazlewood and R.C. Hazlewood, Sr., he was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-five years, Theda Rhea Bucy Hazlewood, his parents and grandparents, and several cousins. He is survived by brothers Donald (Carol Tewes) Hazle wood of San Marcos, Texas, and R. Charles (Stephanie Secrest) Hazlewood, Jr. of Round Rock Texas, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. He served honorably in the Army during the Korean conflict. He and his wife lived in many beautiful places in the Southwest, and for more than 30 years he taught Spanish to high school students. He was also a welder and manager in the petroleum industry, professional photographer and artist, and a devoted husband, brother, and uncle.
