Bobcats fall in Sun Belt Quarterfinals to Jaguars
Facing the regular season champions and undefeated South Alabama did not deter Texas State. The Bobcats battled to the end in a 2-1 setback to Wednesday night in the quarterfinals of the Sun Belt Conference Championship from the Foley Sports Complex.

Rattlers come up short in final game of the season
The Rattlers fell to East Central, 45-21, in a game that was much closer than the final score. The Rattlers opened up the game with a 14-6 lead but weren’t able to regain it after a 15-0 run from the Hornets before halftime.

Possum deserves more attention
According to my extensive research (approximately five minutes on Google when I should have been folding underwear), the Chinese zodiac system assigns an animal symbol to each year. It is believed that people born in a given year have the personality of that year’s animal. For example, based on the placemats at my favorite Chinese buffet, I was born in the Year of the Dog, which means I am loyal, honest and difficult to housebreak.

Council should support Comprehensive Plan++
San Marcos’ Comprehensive Plan functions as the City’s road map, guide, and vision for the way San Marcos will develop and gives guidance to its leaders. To develop the Comp Plan, San Marcos hired a consulting firm and appointed several members of the community to advise in its development. After the original Comp Plan development process, citizens and a subcommittee made revisions to the Comp Plan and that document is entitled the “Comprehensive Plan ++”. The Comp Plan ++ should be voted in by city council.

ASVAB testing resumes at Gary Job Corps
Prior to the COVID outbreak, the Gary Job Corps Center would test students upon arrival at the center with the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB). Now, after a three-year halt, the testing will be available again for all new students.

The Hill Country is changing, and like it or not, we are changing with it. We feel it in the way our morning commute has lengthened from 5 minutes to 30. We see it in the apartment complexes springing up around the fringe of town. And we hear it in the songs our locals share with us.
