School threats on social media lead to arrest
The Hays County Sheriff’s Office announced Tuesday that a juvenile was arrested in connection to a generic threat on Oct. 16, that referenced school violence was imminent and which was sent out via social media applications.

4-year-old finds gun in teacher aide’s backpack at SMCISD school campus
The San Marcos Police Department stated that it is continuing to investigate an incident on Oct. 12 where a 4-year-old student at San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District’s Bonham PreKindergarten found a loaded firearm in the personal backpack of an instructional assistant in the classroom.

Board votes no to chaplains as school counselors
The San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District board of trustees decided against hiring chaplains to perform the duties of a school counselor at the regularly scheduled meeting Monday. Senate Bill 763 was recently passed by the Texas Legislature, which according to the Texas Legislature online website, states that a school district may employ a chaplain instead of a school counselor to perform the duties required of a school counselor under this title.
