Friend’s hygiene habits are left high and dry
DEAR ABBY: I invited a friend to spend the weekend with me on my parents’ boat. She insisted that she must shower twice a day, as that is her usual routine. She said she can’t wake up without a shower, and needs to shower to be clean at the end of the day. I believe showering twice a day is excessive. Even showering once a day isn’t necessary unless someone has been working or exposed to dirt.

Commissioners Court plans to remedy payroll errors
The Hays County Commissioners Court agenda is full today as the court will take time to issue several proclamations, initiate American Rescue Plan Act funding for some county organizations and then address payroll matters in connection to the responsibilities of County Treasurer Daphne Tenorio as the mandate for who handles payroll was shifted from her office to the county’s Budget Office.

Abbott vetoes bills; feud with Patrick grows
Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick claimed last week that Gov. Greg Abbott is sabotaging the Senate’s work because of their ongoing feud over which approach to property tax reform is best, The Dallas Morning News reported. Abbott vetoed three bills by Sen. Paul Bettencourt, R-Houston, who has been Patrick’s point senator on increasing homestead exemptions in order to provide tax cuts. As of Friday afternoon, he had vetoed 31 bills.
