Garry Merritt presents Great Springs project goals to Rotary Club
Garry Merritt leads a regional initiative called Great Springs Project to add an additional 50,000 acres of protected lands over the Edwards Aquifer recharge zone between Austin and San Antonio. This national park-scale green corridor will be connected by a 100+ mile network of spring-to-spring trails, linking four iconic springs in Central Texas: Barton Springs, San Marcos Springs, Comal Springs, and San Antonio Springs. Merritt will share the group’s plans with the Rotary Club of San Marcos at noon on Wednesday, April 12 at the Holiday Inn Conference Center, 105 Bintu Drive. Visitors are always welcome.

Thanks to the San Marcos Electric Utility crew for their hard work on down lines
Late Thursday (April 6) afternoon, there was extensive damage to the utility poles and lines in the 700 block of Belvin St. The damage appeared to have been caused by a very large truck driving down the street. There was one utility pole leaning at about a 45 degree angle out toward the street. The top portion of another pole had snapped and, while it did not break off, it was dangling downward at an alarming angle. As a result of the damage to the poles there were a lot of low hanging lines over the street and sidewalks. The scene really needed to be seen to be believed, but it was pretty catastrophic.
