Man involved in road rage incident arrested in Nueces County

The San Marcos Police Department arrested a wanted man Friday in Nueces County.

Jorge Enriquez, 34, who SMPD was searching for after a SWAT situation on Tuesday, was taken into custody at the Nueces County Courthouse on Friday morning.

SMPD received information that Enriquez, who had a warrant out for his arrest for Assault with a Deadly Weapon after a road-rage incident in June, had a scheduled court hearing Friday morning in Nueces County.

SMPD made contact with a member of the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) Task Force in Nueces County, that made contact with Nueces County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) and NCSO took Enriquez into custody for the SMPD warrant inside the courthouse, officials said.

Enriquez was allegedly involved in a road-rage incident in downtown San Marcos that occurred on June 26.

Police determined that Enriquez intentionally used his vehicle to block another vehicle and then threw a beer can at the driver’s side window of the vehicle, attacked the driver and caused injury.

Enriquez rammed his vehicle into the victim’s vehicle as they were trying to drive away, police said.

SMPD detectives obtained an arrest warrant on Enriquez for aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon — in relation to the road-rage incident that occurred in June — on Tuesday, Aug. 27.

SMPD detectives observed Enriquez driving to his residence in the 700 block of Bracewood Circle and attempted to contact him at approximately 5:58 p.m., officials said.

Enriquez parked his car, ran into his apartment and barricaded himself inside, police said. The Hays County SWAT team was requested to the scene. Law enforcement officials surrounded the apartment and obtained a search warrant to enter his residence, SMPD said. Enriquez, however, was not found inside the apartment.

Enriquez’s arrest came Friday at the Nueces County Courthouse.
