‘Book of Mormon’ tickets on sale now at Bass Concert Hall

Sunday, August 27, 2023

Back by popular demand, “The Book of Mormon” returns to Austin Nov. 14 - 19 at Bass Concert Hall. The irreverent musical comedy played a record-breaking two-week run in 2013. Tickets for this limited engagement are sale now for the irreverent musical comedy presented by Texas Performing Arts.

“The Book of Mormon” tells the story of two Mormon missionaries — one devoted and dedicated, the other well-meaning but painfully awkward — who are sent to a remote village in Uganda to convert the people there to the Mormon faith. Upon arrival, they discover the village inhabitants are apathetic to questions of faith in the face of more challenging issues such as HIV/AIDS, famine and the ongoing oppression by a local warlord.

The show features music and lyrics by Trey Parker, Robert Lopez and Matt Stone. It premiered on Broadway in March 2011 to overwhelmingly positive critical acclaim, garnering nine Tony Awards including Best Musical and a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album. Since its debut, “The Book of Mormon” has traveled to many stages worldwide, including a long-running engagement in London’s West End and several US national tours. “The Book of Mormon” is now one of the most successful shows in Broadway history.

Tickets start at $40 and are available at texasperformingarts. org and BroadwayinAustin.com, by phone at (512) 4771444 or from the Texas Performing Arts ticket office at Bass Concert Hall. “The Book of Mormon” will run Nov. 14 - 19, Tuesday through Thursday at 7:30 p.m.; Friday at 8 p.m.; Saturday at 2 and 8 p.m.; and Sunday at 1 and 6:30 p.m.
