32nd Annual Texas Wine & Beer Tasting

Friday, January 24, 2020

The League of Women Voters-US is celebrating their 100th anniversary as an organization. Born out of the women’s suffrage movement of the early 1900s, the League of Women Voters was formed in 1920 to continue their work: educating, supporting and protecting voter’s rights in Texas.

The Hays County League of Women Voters (LWV) invite the public to help commemorate this momentous anniversary at their annual fundraising event, the LWV Taste of Texas Wine and Beer Tasting and Silent Auction. The event will be held at the Holiday Inn Convention Center, 501 Bintu Dr., on Thursday, Jan. 30 from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

The fundraiser will feature a variety of Texas wines and beers. This year’s featured winery is Winery on the Gruene and this year's featured breweries are AquaBrew and Middleton Brewery. New to the tasting this year are Texas non-alcoholic wine and beer.

In addition to the wine and beer tastings, there will be a silent auction featuring themed baskets as well as gift certificates for local goods and services.

Funds from this single, annual event support Hays LWV projects throughout the year. The league is well-known and appreciated for their non-partisan support of candidates and voters through county-wide debates, forums, voters guides that appear in local newspapers, and Vote 411, the online information source for voter information.

Tickets for the event are $20 and can be purchased from a league member, at the door on the night of the event, or online by visiting the LWV's website.
