Q.My kids are driving me crazy with questions about what we are going to do this summer! What has the library planned that I can bring them to?

A. The library has TONS of fun and free activities for children throughout the summer. We have something for children every weekday. Here are just a few things that you may want to plan for:

Summer Reading Program: June 1st to August 8th.

June 1st is the first day to pick up reading logs at the library. Throughout June and July, we have a reading program for children, teens, and adults. Readers fill out logs provided by the library with the titles and times they are reading. When they submit a log, they get a “ticket” to put into a bucket for a special drawing for an age-appropriate prize. Every child and teen who submit a log also get a special “treat” (small toy, coupon for a food, etc.)

June 2nd – Summer reading Kickoff Party – Up, Up and Away!

From 9:00 to 12:00 On Friday, June 2nd the library is having a party! We will have games for children and teens of all ages, including a special foam party from 9:30 am – 11:30 am. We will also have games (arcade and board/card) crafts, a STEM room, matchbox car racing challenge, and much more! Every year we get more than 1000 people in attendance, so bring your family and have some fun!

June will have, in addition to the Kickoff, the following:

• Martial arts demo, fencing demo, children’s concerts with Miss Molly and Waggle Taggle Troubadours, Mermaid program, Teen Cartoon Trivia, an Awesome Science Show, Lego Mania, Crafts, Teen writing workshop June 19-23, Growing Up Wild exploration program…and MORE!

• On June 21st we will host (thanks to the Kiwanis Club!) three showings of Zoomagination! Tickets are required, but they are free and available for pick up beginning June 9th. Zoomagination is a non-profit animal advocacy group that bring a variety of live animals to educate the public about animal behavior, habitats, and care.
