Culinary herbs focus of garden club meeting

Wednesday, March 6, 2019

Deena Spellman, of Bastrop Gardens, will be the guest speaker for the March meeting of the Spring Lake Garden Club.

Spellman’s presentation will be culinary herbs and their uses. She will explore herb gardening from the perspective of one’s personal food choices. Included will be instruction in creating and grouping beds, their care and gardening tips.

A Texas State graduate with a B.S. in botany and an associate degree in horticulture, Spellman has recently celebrated her 21st anniversary as a professional in the field of gardening. She operates Bastrop Gardens, which includes a labyrinth registered in the United Kingdom Registry, a landscape company, Heirloom Tea Room, and a nursery. All are open by scheduled appointment where she especially enjoys sharing her extensive knowledge with small groups of like-minded gardeners.

Spring Lake Garden Club is open to anyone interested in increasing their knowledge of gardening, especially for those gardening conditions and opportunities of the local area. Visitors and new members are always welcome.

The Spring Lake Garden Club’s monthly meeting is Thursday, March 14, from 9:15-11:30 a.m. at McCoy’s Headquarters Conference Room, located at 1350 N. Interstate 35 on the east access road. For more information, go to Spring Lake Garden Club's website.
