Continuing a tradition of more than 20 years, Gary Job Corps students and staff assisted with the bi-annual “Friends of the Library” book sale. The goal of this year’s sale is to raise $1 million for the library’s extension project. More than 4,000 books and 3,000 DVDs were put up for sale. Downtown got a tidying up for spring last week with the Lower Colorado River Authority’s (LCRA) fifth annual Steps Forward Day volunteer effort to landscape flowerbeds and remove unwanted graffiti from the area.
