Future Farmers visit Texas State campus

High school students from more than 100 Future Farmers of America chapters congregate to check in and study in Texas State University’s Agriculture Building as they wait for the start of the Department of Agriculture annual Invitational Career Development event. Jordan Taylor of the Sandra Day O’Connor High School Future Farmers of America uses her hands in the machine shop to brace the piping for her team’s irrigation system as she waits for the glue to dry during the Agricultural Technology & Mechanical Systems competition portion of Invitational Career Development Day at Texas State.

Justin Pulley of the Department of Agriculture double-checks the irrigation system built by the team from La Vernia High School to make sure it works properly before they disassemble it.
