FOR THE CHILDREN: Divided Sky Roofing, Rotary Club make donations to CASA

Monday, July 26, 2021

The mission of Court Appointed Special Advocates of Central Texas is to advocate for abused and neglected children in the courts, school, and child welfare system by training and supporting community volunteers.

That mission is going to be made easier thanks to the efforts of John Hardy and his staff at Divided Sky Roofing following a donation his company made last week.

“When we set a company goal in January to give more back to our community, CASA immediately came to mind,” Hardy said. “The support my family and our foster children have received from the San Marcos community, since taking on foster care has been overwhelming.”

Hardy said having a CASA volunteer assigned to their cases gave them great relief knowing each child had someone to advocate for their best interest in court.

“May was National Foster Care Awareness month and we decided what better way to give back than create an awareness campaign of our own and donate a portion of every roof sale to CASA,” Hardy added. “The campaign was such a success we have decided to make this an annual giving campaign.”

He said in addition to their fundraising efforts the Rotary Club of San Marcos was able to help double their efforts through individual donations and raised the total gift in the amount $10,000.

“We could not be prouder of our community, customers, employees and Rotary for making this happen,” Hardy said.

Norma Blackwell, Executive Director for CASA said it’s their goal at CASA is to provide a trained, screened advocate for every child who has been removed from their home because of abuse or neglect.

“When people like John and Divided Sky choose to support our program, they are helping us reach this goal,” she said. “It means a great deal that the community is standing behind us and making a commitment to help these children.”
