City of Kyle seeking input for 2030 Comprehensive Plan Update

Tuesday, February 7, 2023

The city of Kyle is seeking input from residents on the second phase of its Kyle 2030 Comprehensive Plan Update, launching new interactive tools on Kyle2030.com and inviting the community to attend one of five Comprehensive Planning Open Houses and a Comprehensive Planning Workshop to provide input.

On January 3, 2023 the second community survey was made available on Kyle2030. com. Residents can provide feedback online until it closes on February 21.

An interactive map tool is also available at Kyle2030. com where residents can place pins on a map of a “Place You Love,” a “Special Place,” a place where they would like to “See Development,” and places where they would like to see more “Housing/Shopping” opportunities. That tool launched on January 24 and will close on March 21.

The city of Kyle is hosting a Comprehensive Plan Community Event and Workshop on Monday, Feb. 13 from 6 – 9 p.m. at Kyle City Hall, 100 W. Center St.

The community is invited to attend a Comprehensive Plan Community Event and Workshop hosted by the City of Kyle on Monday, Feb. 13 from 6-9 p.m. at Kyle City Hall, 100 W. Center St.

This will be a two-part event. From 6-7:30 p.m., representatives of Verdunity, the firm hired to help the city update the comprehensive plan, will deliver a presentation sharing the results of the citywide Land Use Fiscal Analysis recently completed as part of this planning effort. The purpose of this first half of the event is to provide education and insights into the property tax revenue productivity throughout the city and discuss how cities can become more financially sustainable. There will also be a Q&A following the presentation. From 7:30-9 p.m. representatives of Verdunity will lead the Kyle City Council and the Planning and Zoning Commission in a workshop focused on facilitating dialogue on a variety of related topics, including policymaking and governance.

On Wednesday, Feb. 15 the City of Kyle will host five in-person Comprehensive Planning Open Houses. The first one taking place from 12 – 3 p.m. at Fire Station No. 2, 150 Bunton Creek Rd., and four more happening concurrently from 5 – 8 p.m. at Barton Middle School (NW Kyle), Science Hall Elementary (NE Kyle), Kyle City Hall (SW Kyle), and Tobias Elementary School (SE Kyle).

The Open Houses will be come-and-go style events where residents will have the opportunity to provide feedback on each quadrant of the city. Including housing, density, non-residential developments, vacant properties and more. City staff will be available for questions throughout the event.

Feedback given at the workshop, open houses and on the survey and interactive map tool will be used to refine the City of Kyle’s Comprehensive Plan. A comprehensive plan is a foundational document that provides rationale for decision-making, recommendations for policy and budgeting, and an examination of the overall picture of the city.

Community feedback is key to crafting a comprehensive plan that reflects the challenges that residents face as well as what they would like to see prioritized in the community.
