GSMP names Giulietti new president

Tuesday, March 3, 2020

Jason Giulietti, interim president for the Greater San Marcos Partnership, was named the new president for the GSMP.

Giulietti replaces former President Adriana Cruz, who began working as the executive director of Economic Development and Tourism for the State of Texas in the Office of the Governor in December. Giulietti begins his new role immediately and is tasked with leading the GSMP’s mission to “improve the quality of life for the residents of Hays and Caldwell counties by facilitating the creation of high-quality jobs.”

“Our region is on a trajectory of growth that is unprecedented,” Giulietti said in a statement. “As president of the GSMP, I plan to help lead and guide this growth in a manner that aligns with our community’s values, assets, and aspirations. Building upon the collaborative partnership we have established across the region will allow us to secure more high-quality jobs and improve the quality of life for everyone in our community.”

Giulietti, who joined the economic development organization a year ago as its vice president, was selected as the new president by the Greater San Marcos Partnership Board. He served as the GSMP’s interim president for two months. Giulietti was picked by the board after a 3-month process that saw apwplicants from across the nation. Candidates were narrowed to two through a series of interviews, which ended with a two-hour interview by a quorum of the 37-member GSMP board.

“It only takes a short time with Jason to recognize his enthusiasm for bettering the lives of others,” John David Carson, COO for Carson Properties and GSMP’s acting board chair, said in a statement. “Jason has been recognized as one of the top economic developers in the country and he has already demonstrated the expertise to help us expand opportunities for our communities. His combination of skill, passion, and knowledge of our two-county footprint have helped him quickly develop meaningful, trust-based relationships throughout the region. We are fortunate to have Jason lead the GSMP.”

The GSMP’s search committee included Texas State University Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Gene Bourgeois, Benchmark Insurance President Scott Burton, San Marcos Mayor Jane Hughson, Hays County Commissioner Debbie Gonzales Ingalsbe, City of Lockhart Director of Economic Development Mike Kamerlander, San Marcos City Manager Bert Lumbreras, Corridor Title President Patrick Rose, Frost Bank Market President John Schawe, Hays County Commissioner Lon Shell, former Central Texas Medical Center President and CEO Anthony Stahl, and Caldwell County Commissioner Ed Theriot as well as Carson.
