Overcast skies did not interfere with the 2023 Veterans Day Parade that kicked off early Saturday in front of the Hays County Historic Courthouse. With the theme, “Honoring All Who Served the United States of America,' and sponsored by the city of San Marcos Parks and Recreation Department with assistance from the Veterans Affairs Advisory Committee, the grand marshal of the parade was San Marcos resident, retired U.S. Army Col. Jack H. Pryor. Both San Marcos High School and the San Marcos Academy sent various student representatives. The San Marcos Lions and Kiwanis clubs, area Boy Scouts and others were out in force to honor those who have served from the city and Hays County. See more photos on page 3.

In front of an audience that included area veterans on Saturday for the Veterans Day Parade, San Marcos Mayor Jane Hughson and members of the City Council had premium seating in San Marcos police and fire department vehicles. In uniform and marching in precision were members of the Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFJROTC) at San Marcos High School.
