The Hershey Creamery Company, also known as Hershey’s Ice Cream, has chosen Lockhart to expand its operations, the company recently announced.

Hershey Creamery Company purchased over seven acres in the Lockhart Industrial Park II to build a new 20,000 square-foot facility, which will distribute Hershey’s Ice Cream products to retailers throughout Central and South Texas.

According to a news release, the company plans to break ground by the end of 2021. The company is anticipated to bring in more tax revenue and up to 20 jobs to Lockhart’s residents following its completion.

“I welcome Hershey’s Ice Cream to Lockhart,” Mayor Lew White said in a statement. “The logistics and distribution industry is one of four business sectors Lockhart has targeted in its five-year economic growth plan given our citizens’ workforce readiness and location to serve Austin and San Antonio.”

Enjoyed by millions since 1894, Hershey’s Ice Cream is focused on producing innovative, high-quality products and providing industry leading service. Guided by family values of integrity, honesty, and respect, the company strives to provide an unforgettable experience with each delicious bite.

“Lockhart’s size and location are the perfect example of what we look for in our operations,” said George Holder, Hershey Creamery Company president. “Texas has always been a great state for business, and we look forward to starting our Lockhart operation.”

Hershey Creamery Company is an American creamery that produces ice cream, sorbet, sherbet, frozen yogurt, and other frozen desserts. It was founded by Jacob Hershey and his four brothers in 1894. The company was one of the first to offer consumers pre-packaged ice cream pints.
