Oh baby: San Marcos’ first 2020 baby arrives at CTMC

San Marcos’ first baby of the new decade arrived at 4:05 p.m. on Wednesday at Central Texas Medical Center’s Women’s Center. 

Dr. Kody Kunda delivered the first child of 2020 — Elena Martinez, who weighed 6 pounds, 5 ounces. She is the first child for parents Juan Martinez and Maria Hernandez, who are both San Marcos natives. 

CTMC presented the new family with a pack-and-play filled with new-baby necessities like diapers, a mobile, swaddles, teething toys and much more.
The state-of-the-art Women’s Center includes all private rooms, a Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) an on-site, high-risk delivery suite and a customized cesarean section suite.
CTMC also offers expanded childbirth education and certified breastfeeding support. All programs are offered in both English and Spanish. Classes cover a variety of topics including Childbirth Education for First-Time Moms, Childbirth Refresher, Cesarean Sections, Breastfeeding and Lactation Consultation.
