The Central Texas Medical Center (CTMC) Foundation honored Pink Heals Hays County for its philanthropic work locally, during its Stars of Texas Gala.

The event took place Sunday as hundreds converged at Embassy Suites for a dinner and auction benefitting the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at CTMC’s Women’s Center.

Since 2012 Pink Heals has raised funds to offset medical expenses and living cost for local families.

“This is a very special honor for our local chapter as well as the national Pink Heals organization,” said. Kathleen Chomel, Pink Heals Hays County chairperson. “This a proud moment for us as it has taken our chapter 7 years to reach this platform.”

Chomel said she hadn’t walked the journey alone.

In fact, a group of firefighters, police officers and EMS professionals raise funds throughout the year with t-shirt sales and a 5K run in the fall.

“I’ve been accompanied by an incredible group of volunteers who have worked, day-in and day-out to make Pink Heals Hays County, an amazing chapter,” she said. “This way we can continue supporting our cancer patients in our community.”
