Texas State to host in-person, socially distanced spring 2021 commencement

Texas State University will host in-person, socially distanced commencement ceremonies for spring 2021 degree candidates on May 13 and 14 at Bobcat Stadium.

Alan L. Tinsley, member of the Texas State University System Board of Regents, will be the keynote speaker during the 10 a.m. ceremony on May 14, to be attended by degree candidates from the Department of Biology; Department of Computer Science; Department of Engineering Technology; Department of Physics; Materials Science, Engineering and Commercialization; Interdisciplinary Science; Department of Finance and Economics; Department of Marketing; and Graduate College.

Earl Maxwell, CEO of St. David’s Foundation, will be presented with an honorary doctoral degree during the 6 p.m. ceremony on May 13. Robby Maxwell will speak on behalf of his father.

Degree candidates from the Department of Anthropology; Department of English; Department of Geography; Department of Political Science; Department of Psychology; Department of Sociology; University College; and Graduate College will attend the 10 a.m. commencement ceremony on May 13.

Degree candidates from the College of Applied Arts; Department of History; International Studies; International Relations; Department of Philosophy; Department of World Languages and Literatures; and Graduate College will attend the 2 p.m. commencement ceremony on May 13.

Degree candidates from the College of Health Professions; Department of Accounting; Business Administration; Department of Computer Information Systems and Quantitative Methods; Department of Management; and Graduate College will attend the 6 p.m. commencement ceremony on May 13.

Degree candidates from the School of Journalism and Mass Communication; School of Music; Department of Theatre and Dance; Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry; Ingram School of Engineering; Department of Mathematics; and Graduate College will attend the 2 p.m. commencement ceremony on May 14.

Degree candidates from the College of Education; School of Art and Design; Department of Communication Studies; and Graduate College will attend the 6 p.m. commencement ceremony on May 14.

More than 4,500 students are candidates for undergraduate and graduate degrees at Texas State this spring.

If inclement weather is forecast for either part or all of a day, all ceremonies scheduled for that day will be moved indoors to Strahan Arena at the University Events Center at their originally scheduled dates and times. Any decision to relocate a ceremony will be announced by 10 a.m. the day prior. Candidates will be notified via email and information regarding ticketing, parking, etc. for the relocation will be posted to the commencement website.
