Winter storm response, bias policing for the next advisory panel meeting

Monday, March 1, 2021

The San Marcos Police Department Chief’s Advisory Panel will host a virtual public meeting beginning at 6 p.m. on March 3, focusing on the department’s winter storm response, the 2020 bias-based policing report and Cite & Release data.

“This important meeting exemplifies the San Marcos Police Department’s commitment to continuous improvement and community engagement,” said Chief Stan Standridge.

The meeting will provide an overview of SMPD’s response to the recent winter weather event, followed by a thorough examination of the 2020 bias-based policing report submitted to the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement.

They will also cover the most recent Cite & Release data, in compliance with the City of San Marcos Cite & Release Ordinance requiring quarterly reports on Cite & Release be made public. Residents can view existing data on the city’s website at www.sanmarcostx.gov/citerelease.

The Chief’s Advisory Panel aims to assist in the development of community policing strategies and concepts by gathering feedback and building trust. Public meetings with the Advisory Panel are held on a quarterly basis.
