Lori Scott McNabb passed away unexpectedly on October 9, 2021 at the age of 62. Lori was born July 19, 1959 to Charles and Charleen (Schultz) Scott in Tecumseh, Nebraska. Lori was a cherished wife, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend to so many by whom she is sorely missed.
Lori is survived by her husband Ron McNabb of San Marcos, father Charles and mother Charleen of Tecumseh, Nebraska; brother Mark (Barb) Scott of Lincoln, Nebraska and sister Susanne (Jim) Hiland of Bentonville, Arkansas, nephews Brandon (Cortney) Scott of Gretna, NE, and Brian (Jennifer) Scott of Round Rock, TX, nieces Haley (Jay) Hungerford also of Bentonville and Jamie (Marcus) Rist of Adams, Nebraska as well as great nephews and nieces Charlie, Sam and Ellie Scott, Levi and Lucy Hungerford, and Emery and Leighton Rist. Lori was blessed to have the most incredible extended family in her life as well. She is also survived by her loving and devoted partner of nine years, Allan Doane of San Marco, TX, and Allan's family, daughter Jennifer Doane of Dripping Springs, Texas and son Chad (Ashley) Doane of New Braunfels, Texas and grandchildren Sutton and Camden Doane, and by the amazing Campusano family, Chuy and Anna Marie and their daughters Marissa, Yesenia and Jackie of San Marcos, TX who have lovingly supported Lori and continue to care for Ron through his battle with advanced Alzheimer's disease.
Lori graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1977 then attended Kearney State College earning a BS in Biology. She later attended the UNMC College of Pharmacy and UNO earning a Masters in Kinesiology (sports medicine). Lori was a member of the Nebraska Army National Guard then joined ROTC at UNO after which she served on active duty in the U.S. Army where she earned her Masters in Physical Therapy from Baylor University. After 13 years of service Lori departed the Army having attained the rank of Major.
A dedicated soldier, patriot, and clinician, Lori earned the respect, trust, and love of the soldiers she led, as well as the patients she served. Known for her tenacity and work ethic, throughout Lori's life she always placed the needs of others above her own. Lori loved her work and loved her patients, many of whom became her close and cherished friends.
Lori loved life and oh how she loved her precious family and friends. She authored two books; one dedicated to the life and service of her father Charlie and the other dedicated to the memories created in the kitchen of her mom Charleen. She was an accomplished athlete having run several marathons and qualifying for and running the Boston Marathon. She rode thousands of miles on her bike raising money for many worthy causes and loved all kinds of other outdoor activities including horseback riding, kayaking and fly fishing in her beloved Montana with Allan.
Through many struggles in life including her heartbreak at her Ronnie's decline and her own courageous and defiant battle with breast cancer, Lori's faith in God and resolve to overcome never wavered.
A celebration of life will be held at The Texas Rock House in San Marcos, Texas on Wednesday, October 20th starting at 6 p.m. with funeral Mass tentatively planned for Saturday, November 13th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Tecumseh, Nebraska. Arrangements by Wherry Mortuary, Tecumseh.
