OUR BELOVED PARENTS – TOGETHER FOREVER- To know Bob & Jerilyn was to LOVE Bob & Jerilyn. They were together hand in hand most of the time and appropriately, they passed away within hours from each other.

Bob was born on April 1, 1945 in San Diego, California. He spent his childhood in the Hill Country of San Marcos, Texas where he spent most of his time fishing and hunting with his father, uncle and various other relatives. Bob graduated from San Marcos High School in 1963 where he excelled in class and was a member of the golf team.

Jerilyn was born on December 12, 1944 in Houston Texas. She spent her childhood in the Hill Country of Wimberley, Texas where she spent a lot of her time as a cheerleader, sister, mentor and friend to her six siblings (a seventh sibling to come 9 months after her first child was born). Jerilyn graduated from San Marcos High School in 1963, top of her class, and voted most likely to succeed. It was in high school that

Bob and Jerilyn met and became “the love of each other’s lives” She and Bob attended Southwest Texas (now Texas State) and were married in November of 1964 during Thanksgiving break. They remained lovingly committed and devoted to each other for 56 years. Bob and Jerilyn had three children together after relocating to Tucson, AZ in 1966.

Bob entered the mortgage banking business in Tucson, AZ and in 1976 he transferred to Las Vegas and enjoyed more than thirty years of a successful career due to his honesty and strong work ethic. Respected by the entire Las Vegas mortgage banking community, competitors would seek out Bob for their loans because they knew he would complete the job right the first time, with integrity. Bob loved his family, golfing with great friends, enjoyed fishing, hunting, and many different UNLV athletics.

Following her husband’s job transfer to Las Vegas, Jerilyn went to work for a mortgage company as a secretary in 1977 and quickly became the company’s sole owner. Admired by her peers, she owned and operated her investment and mortgage business with celebrated success for over twenty years. Jerilyn served on various boards within the Las Vegas business community, as a well-respected member. A lady of the utmost integrity, honesty, superb people-skills, and keen business sense became her trademark in the private mortgage industry. Jerilyn loved her family, faith, women and children groups, hosting events, and at the age of 50, hiked and rafted the Grand Canyon!

Bob and Jerilyn spent time loving and raising their family while working but when the time came, boating and Monday night football was always in the cards for us kids. You could also find them attending various UNLV athletic events, supporting many different charities and events, always willing to donate to various colleges for equipment, scholarships, and much more. Traveling to Hawaii, Augusta National, and Pebble Beach were some of their favorites. They had strong Christian Faith and were involved in building/ fundraising campaigns and supported the opening of several “seed” churches.

In retirement, Bob and Jerilyn spent a lot of time in Ely, Nevada continuing to enjoy hunting, fishing, 4-wheeling, taking long drives on success loop and enjoyed their many friends. They continued their community involvement both together and separately making a memorable impact where they lived.

Perhaps one of their favorite things was spending time with their grandchildren, collectively known as “the divine nine” spoiling as Grandparents do, teaching them to fish, 4-wheel ride, shoot, bake, drive a tractor, cook, and much more.

Bob was gentle and kind—a man of faith as well as having a great wit and sense of humor. Bob was a friend to many, loved, and respected by all. He was preceded in death by his parents R.F. and Lydell Clayton and sister, Ann Lewis. He was survived briefly by his loving wife Jerilyn. In addition, Bob is survived by his three children and their spouses, Kristin Radko (Michael Radko), Laura Lychock (Rob Lychock) and Robert Clayton (Nicole Clayton); grandchildren, Kari Radko, Katy Radko, William Radko, Matthew Lychock, Leah Lychock Brzezinski (Charlie Brzezinski), Luke Lychock, Sarah Lychock, Andrew Clayton and Garrett Clayton; nephew, Jeff Lewis; brother-in-law, Gene Lewis.

Jerilyn impacted so many in her lifetime--her enormous heart, Christian faith, giving personality and all who knew and loved her are forever influenced for the better. Jerilyn was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bob Clayton; parents Bobbie and Mike Jones; sisters Jan Dickson and Bobbie Eaton. In addition, Jerilyn is survived by her three children and their spouses, named above; 4 brothers and their spouses, Mike Jones (MaryLou Jones), Alan Jones (Carolyn Jones), Matt Jones (Stephanie Jones), Ethan Jones (Darlene Jones); brother-in-law, Rick Eaton; aunt, Marilyn Thomason; multiple nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family would like to extend our THANKS to all of the Doctors, Nurses, and staff at Southern Hills Hospital for their continuous efforts with our parents during this incredibly difficult time. We truly appreciate you all.
