Bob passed away on May 8, 2019 at home. He was born on October 9, 1931 in Manor, Georgia. He was the oldest of seven boys born to Alvin and Aline Boyd. Immediately after graduating from high school he enlisted in the Navy and served on the ship USS Menelaus in the Mediterranean Ocean. He visited the Greek Parthenon, Spanish bull fights, French cabarets and Italian historical sites. After being discharged from the Navy, he enlisted in the Air Force. Upon passing an entrance exam, he became a commissioned officer and a pilot. He enjoyed flying and continued as a private pilot for many years.
When he got out of the Air Force, he worked as a car salesman and won several sales awards. He then opened a boat store in Florida and took part in speed boat racing on the ocean from Florida to the Bahamas. After selling the boat business, he moved to San Marcos and bought a ranch on Hilliard Road with the thought of retirement, he ultimately became a real estate developer and continued running the business into 2019.
Bob was an avid golfer and hunter. He enjoyed many years as a member of Quail Creek Country Club, playing golf three days a week. He hunted in Colorado, New Mexico and Texas.
