What it takes to put on races
I was getting things ready to help with the Kiwanis Pumpkin Dash 5K this week and it made me realize what equipment it takes to put on a race.

According to my extensive research (approximately five minutes on Google when I should have been folding underwear), the Chinese zodiac system assigns an animal symbol to each year. It is believed that people born in a given year have the personality of that year’s animal. For example, based on the placemats at my favorite Chinese buffet, I was born in the Year of the Dog, which means I am loyal, honest and difficult to housebreak.
San Marcos’ Comprehensive Plan functions as the City’s road map, guide, and vision for the way San Marcos will develop and gives guidance to its leaders. To develop the Comp Plan, San Marcos hired a consulting firm and appointed several members of the community to advise in its development. After the original Comp Plan development process, citizens and a subcommittee made revisions to the Comp Plan and that document is entitled the “Comprehensive Plan ++”. The Comp Plan ++ should be voted in by city council.

Gov. Gregg Abbott and the Texas House are at loggerheads over which will come first–vouchers for parents to pay for private school tuition, or funneling more money to public schools, The Dallas Morning News reported.
Kicking and screaming were not involved, but it did take our 19-year-old son Gideon an interminably long time to show an interest in soloing with the drivers license he obtained at age 16.
My nephews and I were holed up at the TWA Hotel in New York on a rainy Sunday a few weeks ago, waiting to attend an evening wedding. I fiddled with my phone and laptop and scanned the TV, while explaining that this was a big day for my fantasy football teams. [To be honest, every Sunday during the NFL season is big.] Though the three teens knew a lot about football, I was taken aback when they said that unlike some 45 million Americans they had never learned the fantasy version–which has become a billion-dollar enterprise. So I told them the backstory.
