Legislature should not support vouchers

LETTER TO EDITOR
Sunday, October 15, 2023

I am a Texas retired public school teacher with the honor of teaching 7,000 students throughout 25 years via Physical Education and Special Education.

Every morning students began their day, as students currently with 'The Pledge,' pledging allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, a republic indivisible “with liberty and justice for all.'

In no way will monies taken away from public schools in exchange for vouchers ensure “justice for all.'

Public schools are for all the public, including students with special needs, students in minority, students from diverse cultures, students who the adult body politic pledged safeguards for equal opportunity.

When public schools are funded, without siphoning monies to vouchers, it will ensure “justice for all,' thus a republic “indivisible.'

On behalf of all Texas students, please vote “no” concerning vouchers which will weaken our public schools and thus our republic. Thank you.
