Thank you for preparing San Marcos for the freeze

LETTER TO THE EDITOR
Sunday, February 19, 2023

After watching the damage done to Austin neighborhoods by the ice storms of last week and the number of homes who have lost power for five or more days, I want to express sincere appreciation and gratitude to our Mayor Jane Hughson, the City Council and the McCoy Tree Surgeons of Oklahoma. Their actions over the last few years have significantly reduced the number of power outages from falling limbs or trees in our city.

Our neighborhood Oak Heights was one of the early neighborhoods visited by the tree surgeons. They were on my block for at least two weeks in order to clear all the limbs that could damage the power lines behind our homes. We did have tree damage on Dale Drive, but no power was lost.

I am sure the city has spent many dollars to engage the McCoy Tree Surgeons. It was money well spent to have our power protected and families able to stay in their homes safely.

A heartfelt thank you.
