Bobcats sweep Southern Miss, will host South Alabama this weekend

Texas State volleyball came away with one of their biggest wins of the season as the Bobcats swept the doubleheader against Southern Miss In the first game of the doubleheader, Southern Miss took the first set 2520.

The Bobcats responded by winning the next three sets to win 3-1.

Graduate Senior K.J. Johnson led the team in kills with 16, while also leading the team in digs with 19.

In the second game of the weekend, the Bobcats continued their hot streak as Texas State swept Southern Miss 3-0.

Leading the way for the Bobcats was the duo of Samantha Wunsch and Sophie Childs, delivering 11 kills each.

Carlee Pharris and Ryann Torres helped delivered the kill with a combined 29 assists with 19 coming from Pharris and 10 coming from Torres.

On the defensive side of the ball, Alyssa Ortega led the team in digs with 19 followed by Alyssa Clark with 11.

Bailey Hanner held the net for Texas State with six blocks.

The Bobcats return home this weekend as Texas State hosts the South Alabama Jaguars.

The Jaguars are currently 8-0 in conference play with a 17-3 overall record.

Hill Country Christian marches closer to district title The Hill Country Christian Rams football team are a step closer to achieving a district championship, defeating San Antonio Atonement 62-0.

The Rams move to 6-0 overall and 2-0 in district play.

Hill Country Christian will take on Fredericksburg Heritage this Friday with the winner gaining a leg up in the district title race.

Texas State Soccer nabs point against James Madison Texas State collected a point in conference play as the Bobcats tied James Madison in a scoreless draw, 0-0.

The draw gives Texas State nine points in the conference standings, putting the Bobcats in fourth place in the Sun Belt West Division.

The story of the match was the Bobcat defense who weathered the James Madison offensive attack taking 11 shots during the game, along with seven corner kicks.

But the Dukes were unable to put anything into the back of the net as freshman goalkeeper Caitlyn Draper stood tall with six saves.
