Emily DeWalt earns AVCA Southwest All-Region honor

Texas State sophomore setter Emily DeWalt was named to the 2019 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division I Southwest All-Region team, the school announced on Tuesday.

DeWalt was voted the Sun Belt Conference Setter of the year for the second-straight season and was named Setter of the Week on three occasions. She totaled 1,196 assists, 77 kills and 51 blocks over the course of the 2019 season and averaged 0.32 aces and 2.28 digs per set. It’s her second time making the All-Region squad.

The Helotes native also helped the Bobcats claim conference regular season and tournament titles and make an appearance in the NCAA tournament for the second year in a row. Texas State’s season came to an end on Dec. 5 when the team fell 3-1 to UC Santa Barbara in Austin.
