Sophomore Emily DeWalt was selected for the Sun Belt Setter of the Week award, the conference announced on Monday.

DeWalt dished out 87 assists combined in home wins over Troy and South Alabama last week. The Helotes native also racked up six kills, four blocks, four aces and 13 digs during the two matches inside Strahan Arena.

The sophomore currently ranks No. 4 in the league with 10.0 assists per set. It’s the first weekly award of the 2019 season for DeWalt and the 12th of her career. The setter set a Sun Belt record last year by earning six Setter of the Week and five Freshman of the Week plaudits, the most honors ever achieved by a freshman.

DeWalt is also the third player from Texas State to be recognized this season. Junior middle blocker Tyeranee Scott was tabbed Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 23 and senior outside hitter Cheyenne Huskey was named Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 30.

DeWalt and the Bobcats (16-7, 8-1 conference) will take on first-place Coastal Carolina (18-2, 8-0) on Friday in Conway, South Carolina at 6:30 p.m.
