Hill Country Christian breaks losing streak, beats Medina

After a 0-10 season last year, the Hill Country Christian School Rams put in the work to come back stronger this season. It showed on the field Friday night, kicking off their 2019 season against the Medina Bobcats with a win. 

The Bobcats didn’t waste any time in scoring, earning a touchdown early in the first quarter. The Rams quickly answered with junior running back Ben Walton scoring a touchdown.  Walton made another touchdown in the second quarter, but the Bobcats still had the lead. The first half ended with Medina ahead, 16-12. 

Coming back from halftime with a renewed energy, junior receiver Gibson Pucel scored one touchdown, and Walton added another three, granting the Rams a 39-22 lead.

“We came out a little sluggish in the first half,” senior captain Jeremy Crauthers said. “But we had a little prayer at halftime and picked it up in the second half.”

Walton finished the game with five total touchdowns, while Pucel scored one receiving touchdown and sophomore quarterback Jett Reed had a touchdown pass.

“We did what we were supposed to do,” sophomore wide receiver Thomas “Chango” Hamilton said. “Everyone worked together. It wasn’t just six guys out there, it was one team.”
