After beginning Sun Belt play with 56 points in two road victories, College Sports Madness honored Texas State senior guard Toshua Leavitt with its Mid-Major Player of the Week award.
The Nixa, Mo. native began the week pouring in a team-high 21 points in a 64-52 victory over Georgia Southern in Statesboro, Georgia last Thursday. The conference’s all-time career 3-pointers leader followed it up with a career-high 35-point performance Saturday in which she shot 9-14 behind the arc and led the Bobcats to a 69-60 win over Georgia State in Atlanta.
Leavitt’s 35 points were the most by any Sun Belt player in a single game this season. She leads the league with 18.8 points per game and 57 made 3s. Texas State’s 2-0 record against Sun Belt competition is the best start for the team since the 2014-15 season.
