Peacock teams up with APOEL B.C. in Cyprus

Alex Peacock will now roost overseas.

The former Texas State forward announced on Twitter Thursday he’s turning pro. It was revealed on Friday that Peacock will join APOEL B.C., a Cypriot Division A team based out of Nicosia, Cyprus.

Peacock was a two-year letterman for the Bobcats, transferring to San Marcos in 2017 from Iowa Western Community College. He started in 59 of the 65 games he played in at Texas State, averaging 7.7 points, 5.6 rebounds, two assists and one steal per game while shooting 45.5 percent from the field and 34.1 percent from deep. His contributions helped the maroon and gold rack up a 23-8 record during the 2018-19 regular season, the most wins in the program’s Division I history, dating back to 1987.

“I am very excited for Alex for the opportunity to play professional basketball overseas in Cyprus,” Texas State head coach Danny Kaspar said. “He has worked very hard for this moment and we wish him nothing but the very best.”

APOEL B.C. has 11 Cypriot Cup titles to their name and racked up a 13-8 record last season, earning the No. 3 seed in the playoffs. The team went the distance with No. 2-seeded Keravnos Strovolou, but dropped the series 3-2.
