Bobcats split series with Cajuns

Texas State was unable to pull of the sweep as the Bobcats volleyball team fell to the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns 3-2 (25-14, 30-32, 15-25, 25-20, 9-15).

“It’s frustrating because we harp on the little details and trying to take care of that,” Coach Huiet said. “I think that’s what bit us in the butt today. ... Being at home we should really buck up and win Set Five even if it goes into five sets. We have to get better each match and we are going to have to watch this to see what we can do.”

After taking th first set 25-14, the Bobcats and the Cajuns were locked into an epic battle in the second set extending past the 25-point mark.

Despite reaching set point multiple times, the Bobcats were unable to close out the set, and Louisiana took the second set at 32-30.

Momentum continued to swing in the Cajuns favor as Louisiana rolled in the third set 25-15.

The Bobcats answered back in the fourth set, winning 25-20 to force the fifth set.

Louisiana finished off the Bobcats 15-8 to take the second game of the doubleheader at 3-2.

Redshirt freshman Samantha Wunsch led the Bobcats in kills with 25 followed by K.J. Johnson with 16.

Johson also finished the game with a double with 10 digs.

Texas State will look to be back in the win column as the Bobcats travel to Hattiesburg for a showdown with Southern Miss.

Texas State falls to Louisiana Monroe

Following a four-goal performance against Coastal Carolina, the Bobcat Soccer team went in the other direction, as Texas State fell to the Louisiana Monroe Warhawks 5-0.

It was a rough outing for the Bobcats, who were held to only two shots and one corner kick the entire game, while the Warhawks shot 19 times with 11 being on target.

Texas State will look to rebound this Thursday as the Bobcats make the long trip up to Harrisonburg, Virginia, to take on the James Madison Dukes. cmcwilliams@ sanmarcosrecord.om Twitter: @ColtonBMc
