Texas State picked up a 4-1 win over Lamar on Wednesday.

The Bobcats are now on a six-game winning streak after defeating the Cardinals inside Bobcat Softball Stadium.

"Any time you are able to get a little win-streak going you are getting to the place where you want to be as a ball club," head coach Ricci Woodard said. "Our goal is to be playing our best in May. We are not quite where we want to be, but we are in the win column. That is a good start."

Texas State (16-15, 5-4 Sun Belt) used an RBI single from sophomore shortstop Tara Oltmann to grab a 1-0 lead over Lamar (15-19, 6-3 Southland) in the first inning.

The Cardinals responded with an RBI single by senior first base Taylor Davis to even the score.

With the bases loaded in the fifth inning, the Bobcats regained the lead with an RBI walk from junior second base Bailee Carter.

Texas State loaded the bases again in the sixth inning. Senior left fielder Mari Cranek hit an RBI single to push the Bobcat advantage to 3-1. Texas State added its final run of the game with an RBI single by junior center fielder Christiana McDowell.

The Bobcats kept Lamar off the board in the seventh to secure the 4-1 victory.

Sophomore pitcher Meagan King earned her ninth win of the season in the circle. She pitched a complete game and only gave up four hits. She tallied four strikeouts and didn’t allow a walk.

Sophomore first base ArieAnn Bell went 2-for-2 at the plate with a walk and a run. McDowell went 2-for-3 with an RBI, a walk and one run scored. Cranek tallied two hits and an RBI.

Texas State returns to action on Friday when it begins a three-game series against Georgia State on Friday at 6 p.m.
