Senior Anne-Charlotte Mora, junior Sasikarn Somboonsup and sophomore Geraldine Wong combined for four Sun Belt postseason awards on Thursday, the most for Texas State since the 2017 season.

Mora was named Sun Belt Player of the Year and received a spot on the All-Sun Belt First Team. The senior had a scoring average of 73.09 this season and versus par average of 1.45-over, both good for second in Bobcat history. She’s also No. 2 in the school record book with 288 career birdies.

Her season came to an end after placing third at the conference championship at even par and tying for 17th at the NCAA Auburn regional, shooting 2-over.

“This is a tremendous honor for Anne-Charlotte and truly a testament to her commitment to being the best she could be,” head coach Lisa Strom said. “I am thrilled that she is being recognized for her historic season and it caps off one of the best careers we have ever seen at Texas State.”

Somboonsup was named to the All-Sun Belt Second Team. She finished the season with five top-25 finishes — two of them in the top 10 and one in the top five. She shot 5-over at the league tournament, which put her in a tie for seventh place.

“This is an incredible honor for (Somboonsup),” Strom said. “She struggled in the fall due to some equipment issues. We did not travel her to an event at Texas because she could not keep her tee shots in play. The way she bounced back from that to have the spring that she had goes to show the mental toughness she possesses. There was never any doubt she would get back on track.”

Wong was also named to the All-Sun Belt Second Team. She finished the year with four top-25 finishes, including one inside the top five. She tied for 12th at the Sun Belt Championship at 6-over.

“Geraldine was a consistent performer in our lineup all season. She does not do anything flashy with her game, but in the end, she finds a way to get things done. That is a gritty quality we love about her.”
