The Journey Continues

The Journey Continues: Commemorating Memorial Day

My journey this week takes me back to a memory of a mother’s love that has forever stuck in my heart. I witnessed this on a Memorial Day over 50 years ago at the Fort Bliss National Cemetery in El Paso. I saw a mother on her knees, leaning over a military grave marker with her arms clasping the cold stone for support. I saw a literal puddle of tears on the red dirt below the marker from her weeping so hard — her son was dead. Memories…

Salad Days

When the warm weather beckons, people are apt to spend more time enjoying the great outdoors. Many people also are less likely to prepare heavy meals when the weather warms up. Rich, filling foods can make people feel sluggish, especially on hot days and nights. That’s why salads and summer are such a perfect match.

The Journey Continues

The Journey Continues: Congratulating our graduates

This week congratulates high school and college/ university seniors. “Matriculation” is a rite of passage one never forgets. Graduates, I admire you and pray you won’t do anything stupid (i.e.: driving while using substances). You’ve a future to fulfill. College graduates, jumping into the San Marcos River is a tradition; therefore, it is fun, not stupid. Looking toward careers choices and job searches calls for a little levity.
