A high-speed chase led New Braunfels police into San Marcos on Friday.
According to the New Braunfels Police Department, officers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the 200 block of Creekside Crossing at approximately 1:55 p.m. Officers arrived in the area and observed a maroon Hyundai Tuscon fleeing at a high-rate of speed, NBPD said in a Facebook post. The vehicle ignored officers and headed southbound on Interstate 35 at speeds reaching 100 MPH.
The vehicle used the turnaround at Rueckle Road and began heading northbound, still fleeing from officers at a high rate of speed. The vehicle eventually left New Braunfels city limits and entered San Marcos city limits. Officers pursued the vehicle into north San Marcos where the vehicle exited, turned around and headed back south on I-35.
The vehicle took the turnaround and head back northbound at exit 202. New Braunfels officers performed a pit maneuver and brought the vehicle to a stop at the exit 205.
Officers conduced a felony traffic stop and a 32-year-old male driver from Houston was taken into custody without incident. The driver was lone occupant of the vehicle and there were no injuries to the suspect or the officers involved.
The suspect has been transported to the Comal County Jail where he will be charged with felony Evading in a Vehicle. Additional charges may be pending.
