DEAR ABBY: I’m 26 and not currently in a relationship. I don’t have many friends. I’d like to have more, and I try. I wasn’t popular in middle and high school, either. I have been in and out of college, so I haven’t been able to make friends there. I have worked at my job for three years and it’s the same story.
The Hays County Commissioners Court is set to proclaim Sept. 16 as the 2nd annual Hispanic Heritage Exhibition Walk Day.
The League of Women Voters of Hays County today announced they would be participating in the upcoming National Voter Registration Day–a nationwide, nonpartisan effort to register hundreds of thousands of voters on Tuesday, Sept. 19.

Across the country, Americans paused Monday to reflect on the 22nd anniversary of the terrorist attacks that killed nearly 3,000 on Sept. 11, 2001. 22nd anniversary of attack is recalled
Students, teachers and staff at Hernandez Elementary School celebrate a literary milestone recently as it was announced that the 'Hernandez Heroes' showed that reading is their superpower. The school won this year's San Marcos Public Library Summer Reading Challenge, a competitive moment among the area campuses. The award is given to the SMCISD elementary with the most students who turned in reading logs during SMPL's summer reading challenge. Ashley Schimelman, SMPL Children's Librarian, presented these Heroes with the winning trophy on Friday, Sept. 8. The district offered its congratulations to the school and thanked staff at the library for its continuing support of all area schools.

Hernandez Heroes Win Summer Reading Challenge
As part of an ongoing investigation, residents of the city living near Academy Street and Hillyer Street were awakened early Thursday as members of the San Marcos Police Department assisted by other participating units from neighboring jurisdictions, served warrants in connection with an ongoing criminal investigation.
Cora LaCoss and Ben Keller earned the Outstanding Performer Award at the UIL State Solo & Ensemble Contest.

This Fall, for the third consecutive year, the number of freshmen students enrolled at Texas State University has gone up. Officials place the number at 7,892.
