The campus of Texas State University is now regularly full of unique sights: everything from a bubble purveyor with a message, to a well-dressed service dog wearing boots to protect paws from hot pavement, to vendors offering dorm room and apartment posters of every kind and description–
a college ritual.
The countdown is also on for the celebration of Spirit Week, set for Sept. 10-16.

ACCEYSS program poised to expand following NSF grant

Shetay Ashford-Hanserd, associate professor and chair of the Department of Organization, Workforce and Leadership Studies at Texas State University, has been awarded a National Science Foundation grant to expand a collaborative program which prepares historically underrepresented youth to pursue undergraduate science, technology, engineering and mathematics degrees.

Officers of the American GI Forum San Marcos Chapter recently presented a check to Hays County veteran Michael Hinz, third from right, and his son Travis, fourth from right, who lost their home in the Oak Grove wildfire. GI Forum representatives are from left, Jesse Sanchez, chair/treasurer, Martin De Leon, secretary, Jerry De Leon, commander and Adolfo Rodriguez, vice commander. On Saturday, Sept. 9, the GI Forum Men Chapter will have a drive-through BBQ Fundraiser with all proceeds going to benefit veterans and community aid. The event will be at the GI Forum EDIFICE complex, 415 South Mitchell St.
