Muralist Robert R. Jones shows new exhibit ‘Walking in My Shoes’

Many San Marcos locals are familiar with the large diversity mural that was unveiled on Jan. 16, 2021, off the corner of LBJ Dr. and Martin Luther King Dr. near downtown San Marcos. The artist of the mural, Robert R. Jones, is set to unveil a new exhibit of original works at the San Marcos Art Center starting April 6-30. While the diversity mural, titled “Celebrate Diversity: Our Common Thread,” was the largest piece Jones has created, totaling at 16 panels and 500 hours of work, Jones’ new exhibit, “Walking in My Shoes” will show a series of paintings and prints reflecting on the experiences of the artist’s life.

Diamond Snow has dramatically changed how we look at euphorbias or that not-so-glamorous common name of spurge. We all fell madly in love with its sibling Diamond Frost and subsequently gave it hundreds of awards in university trials. Diamond Snow, however, is a game changer.

Art Exhibition and Program: Reshaping Trauma Through Art — An Artist’s Quest for Healing from Sexual Assault

In support of National Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month, April 2022, an art exhibition and educational program, Reshaping Trauma Through Art will be held at The Price Center, 222 W. San Antonio St. in San Marcos, April 1 through April 25. Jennifer Epperson, Texas artist and activist, will show art created as part of healing from sexual assault. The program includes a formal presentation on April 23, from 6 - 8 p.m., using art to illustrate the artist’s personal story and to create awareness of sexual assault. Two informal docent tours led by the artist are on April 8 and April 21 from 3:30 - 5 p.m. These interactive tours will focus on the creative process. Opening night of the event will be held at The Price Center on April 1 from 6 - 8 p.m. The exhibit and events are free and open to the public.

Penfold Theatre Company (Penfold) announces cast and creatives for Amadeus directed by new Associate Artistic Director Liz Fisher running March 24 – April 9, at Ground Floor Theatre. 979 Springdale Rd #122, Austin. A special onetime performance with the Central Texas Philharmonic will play Sunday, April 3 at the Klett Center for the Performing Arts in Georgetown.
