Ranch-style home featured in Heritage Home Tour

Kevin Gilley’s stunning ranch-style home was built in 1955 and is an exquisite example of a single-story residence with a cross gabled roof. It stretches out long, with a clean-lined horizontal silhouette and an asymmetrical façade. Distinctive features of the Gilley ranch-style hacienda include a bank of French doors that open out to the patio and huge picture windows to meld the outdoors with the indoors.

Majestic trees in the backyard shade a magnificent play area for children where even an adult can step into the world of make-believe.

With over 25 years in the hospitality industry, Gilley is the quintessential host. An outdoor fireplace anchors the convivial open seating and dining area for family and guests. It is an extension of the interior space for seasonal patio living, and the ideal site for the Heritage Preview Party on Friday, May 4, which the Blue Dahlia Bistro will be catering.

The interior is a spacious open plan that comfortably combines the living room, dining room, family room and kitchen. The home is meticulously appointed with refined furnishings, beautiful floors and ambient lighting. For a family with a very hectic lifestyle, the Gilley home is an elegant, relaxed homestead in which to hang your hat – large or small, chef or cowboy, young or old – the hat rack has multiple hooks.

Heritage Home tour tickets are $20 in advance tickets at heritagesanmarcos.org through May 4. They go up to $25 at the door on Saturday and Sunday, May 5 and 6, the weekend of the home tour. The tickets for the Preview Party at the Gilley house are $75, which includes a ticket to the home tour. The Preview Party starts at 5 p.m. For more information call the San Marcos Heritage Association at 512-392-4295.
